So I’m guessing the owner of Pizza.us is ready to sell his website and domain name because it was placed on Rick Latona’s auction at the January Traffic conference. The reserve range was $30,000 to $40,000 and the name did not sell. Immediately after Latona’s auction ended Pizza.us was placed on Ebay with a $1.00 starting price but a much bigger reserve price
Low 5 figure range and I’m willing to negotiate, trade or finance
The results of the Ebay auction were very disappointing to dot us fans, the final bid was only $1,263.80, hardly a drop in the bucket for such a quality domain name (not to mention the established website). Now here-in lies the problem, this domain is 0-2 in recent auctions and now the domain is suffering from a small, um, public relations problem. Who in their right mind will swoop in with a $15,000 or higher bid for this name when the momentum is swinging so viciously against this domain name at this time? I, who have barely worked in 2010 and needs money desperately wouldn’t sell this name if I owned it. I would pull the name off the market and try again in a year or so.
Of course, this is a crazy industry that we find ourselves part of and this is a category killer name. It will sell and it can still command a very nice price, I just don’t think that will happen in the near future.
