Actually, I just Google the three letters and see how many end user possibilities are on the first 3 pages. I’d like to wish you a Happy Independence Day

Today is July 4, 2010, Independence Day. It is the day that we commemorate the adoption of The Declaration of Independence, a day to thank our forefathers for their bravery as they approved this document:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

I will be spending Independence Day with my family in St Augustine, Florida. We are having an afternoon cookout and then heading a couple of miles to theCastillo de San Marco to watch the fireworks explode over the fort. It is the perfect backdrop to give thanks for the efforts of many people to forge this great country, it’s almost like I can feel the struggles that they went through.

Unfortunately, domaining does not break for the holidays but it does get a reduced workload, I am only working another hour or so. I also wanted to give a shout out to defaultuser from NamePros for putting together a patriotic .us website, 4thJuly.us. Perhaps with another year to work on this site you can make it a great holiday website.

Now I know why they call it a “drop list”

So I woke up this morning and started scanning .us drop lists, for those of you who don’t know I scan them with my eyes and not a program to filter keywords and metrics, it may not be the best method but it works for me. I’m not sure if I just hadn’t fully woke up or if I was in a bad mood but it seemed as if there was a whole bunch of junky names on the lists. Now I know why they call it a “drop list”. The Difference Between A Crap Domain, A Decent Domain and A Great Domain

I started my domaining career in 2006 because I had an idea for a website, so I registered a domain name thinking that I would instantly know how to develop it. I soon realized that I was clueless on the development side of things so I started reading all of the information that I could find. The more that I read, the more I gravitated toward the domaining side of things. I bought a few names, then a few more, and a few more. I was hooked!!!!

That is when reality came calling, or should I say renewal fees came calling! I quickly realized the difference between a crap domain name, a decent domain name and a great domain name. That is the step that every domainer must make in order to be successful, otherwise they will continue to throw good money after bad. Bulk Sale of High Search Volume Domain Names

It is with a heavy heart and a hungry stomach that I am selling the majority of my dot us portfolio in one lot. I am looking for a quick sale so I will consider all reasonable offers in the mid $xxx range. I will consider offers of $9 each. I will not sell individual names this low, it is the bulk sale that gets that price. Selling my domains is nothing new to me, I have sold over 40 domains so far in 2010. It is part of my business model to sell the names for several times more than I paid for them and periodically make an end user sale that provides a much higher return. I buy quality names so it makes sense that I am able to find buyers for these names, but in order to command higher prices sometimes I must wait for these sales to develop.
